The program is based upon community based rehabilitation and has the following goals:
- The child enjoys optimal quality of life and is in an safe environment.
- Integration of the child in the community. Hereby it is important to use local facilities such as training and schooling. Using these factors self-independancy can be developed.
- The family with the handicapped child is after a duration of 5 years participation in the program capable of taking care of the child themselves. After this period the program will focus more upon specific individual assistance.
The following factors are emphasized:
- Choices are made together with the social network of the child
- Activities should be focused upon developing the child
- Aid in own environment important ( family, friends)
- Extra help if needed should be used in the local communicty.
Together with the social worker participants of this internship assist and guide the children in their own direct environment. Specific requirements exist regarding education and work experience, please contact us for more information.
